Biography

Dr. Alessandro Castellini is a Guest Teacher in the Department of Media and Communications at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He holds a BA in Japanese Studies from Ca’ Foscari University in Venice, Italy, an MSc in Gender Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London, and completed his PhD in Gender Studies at LSE’s Department of Gender Studies. His doctoral research focused on intersectional feminist theory, cultural studies, and the sociology of motherhood in late postwar Japan, using a combination of historical archival research, media analysis, and sociological inquiry. Dr. Castellini's current research interests include the translation of gender theories and the investigation of maternal potential violence in contemporary Italian culture. He has taught extensively at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including courses on media globalization and feminist methodologies. His pedagogical approach is informed by student-centered learning and a commitment to equity and diversity in education.
