Biography

Alex Brogan is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at King's College London. He obtained his MSci in 2008 and PhD in 2012 from the School of Chemistry at the University of Bristol. Following a short postdoctoral position at the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London, he became a Research Associate in 2019 and concurrently held a position as a Visiting Researcher at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2017 to 2018. In 2019, he moved to King's College London to establish his research group. His research focuses on the development of protein-based biomaterials with high stability under extreme temperatures, aggregation, and in non-aqueous environments, particularly through the integration of biomaterials with ionic liquids to open new avenues for sustainable biocatalysis and soft-material design. He is involved in teaching various modules in chemistry and aims to advance biotechnologies that promote a sustainable and renewable economy.
