Alex completed his BSc in Biology at the University of Leeds in 2012. He worked as a Research Assistant at St Stephen’s AIDS Trust from June 2013 to June 2015, where he ran several clinical trials focusing on HIV, Hepatitis C, and Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Alex successfully obtained the Chelsea Westminster JRC Studentship grant and started his PhD exploring the effects of pregnancy on HIV immune function, under the supervision of Professor Mark Johnson and Dr. Nesrina Imami, completing it in November 2019. Following his PhD, he briefly worked as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in the Department of Metabolism, Digestion, and Reproduction at Imperial College London. He then spent three years as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Parham Lab at Stanford University, continuing his research in infectious diseases, particularly focusing on chronic infections and their effects on Natural Killer cell education, development, and function. Currently, Alex is a Research Associate in the Davis lab in the Department of Life Sciences at Imperial College London, investigating the relationship between immune cell nanostructures and their functions.
