Biography

Alex Green studied medicine at University College London, qualifying with MB BS in 1997 and obtaining an intercalated BSc in Neurosciences with honors in 1994. After completing basic surgical rotations in the West Midlands, he entered neurosurgical training in London and Oxford from 2002 to 2009, culminating in an MD degree. He has served as a consultant neurosurgeon since 2009 and is currently the president of the British Society Stereotactic Functional Neurosurgery. His research over the past six years has focused on the neurocircuitry underlying autonomic function and pain in humans undergoing Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS). His aims include understanding the mechanisms of neuropathic pain and exploring the control of diseases like hypertension through brain manipulation. His work has led to multiple publications and has investigated the effects of brain stimulation on conditions such as peak expiratory flow and blood pressure regulation. He holds a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in Neurosurgery and has received numerous awards for his contributions to the field.
