Biography

Alex Gregory is an Associate Professor at the University of Southampton who specializes in ethics, particularly in meta-ethics and moral psychology, with a keen interest in happiness and wellbeing. He has published extensively on topics such as hedonic adaptation, reasons for action, theories of value, disability, and wellbeing. Gregory's research is focused on the philosophy of desire, and he is currently involved in editing the Routledge Handbook of Philosophy of Desire. He earned his undergraduate degree and MA from the University of Nottingham between 2002 and 2005, followed by a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Reading in 2011 under the supervision of Jonathan Dancy and Bart Streumer. Since joining Southampton in 2013, he has taught various modules including Happiness and Wellbeing, Truth, Knowledge, and Objectivity. Gregory is also active in several external committees related to health ethics and has served as a consultant for the Health Research Ethics Committee from 2016 to 2017.
