Biography

Alex Grimley is a doctoral student studying modern and contemporary art with an interdisciplinary focus on experimental music, Color Field painting, and Abstract Expressionism. His dissertation focuses on Morton Feldman, Kenneth Noland, and Jules Olitski. He is a regular contributor to Brooklyn Rail and has written extensively on contemporary landscape painting and abstraction. Additionally, he has written essays for exhibitions at Miles McEnery Gallery, Hollis Taggart, Yares Art, and other galleries. Currently, he is organizing an exhibition on contemporary art titled 'Painting Color,' set to open at the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester, NH, in March 2026.
