Alex graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2006. After initial training jobs, he returned to Glasgow in 2009 to undertake specialist training in Paediatric Dentistry. His training included a Masters in Research, focusing on quality improvement methodologies in a dental hospital setting. Upon completing specialist training, he moved to the University of Dundee in 2012, where he worked as a clinical research fellow managing the UK-wide FiCTION trial on decayed primary teeth in general practice. In 2014, he was appointed as a Clinical Lecturer in Paediatric Dentistry at the University of Dundee, completing his consultant level training by the end of 2015. In June 2016, he joined NHS Lothian as a Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry. His research interests include Dental Trauma Management, Dental Caries, and Quality Improvement in Healthcare.
