Biography

Alex Kuiper is an Assistant Professor in Operations Management at the Amsterdam Business School, part of the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Amsterdam. His academic journey began in 2006 at the University of Amsterdam where he pursued a double degree in Mathematics and Econometrics, with a focus on Stochastics. He completed his bachelor’s degree with a minor in Econometrics, later conducting his thesis on appointment scheduling. This foundation led to his Ph.D. supervision under Professor Michel Mandjes and Professor Jeroen de Mast, culminating in the successful defense of his Ph.D. thesis in June 2016. Throughout his career, he has developed a strong emphasis on research interests including Queueing Theory and Stochastic Optimization, directly related to Operations Management.
