Alex Michaelides is a professor of finance at Imperial College Business School, having joined in September 2013. His research interests encompass household finance, exploring aspects such as portfolio choice throughout the life cycle, asset pricing, heterogeneous agents, financial frictions, and the intersection of housing markets with macroeconomics and finance. Before his tenure at Imperial, he was a research fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research focusing on International Macroeconomics and Financial Economics. He has also served as a lecturer, associate professor in the Department of Economics at the London School of Economics, and professor of finance at the University of Cyprus. Michaelides holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton University, awarded in 1997, and a B.A. in Economics from Harvard University, earned in 1993. His experience includes visiting scholar positions at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the European Central Bank. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Cyprus and was the Head of the Department of Finance at Imperial from October 2014 until April 2021. Currently, he serves as the Director of Post Graduate Studies at the Business School since September 2023.
