Biography

Alex Money is a Principal Investigator and Founder at the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment, University of Oxford. He leads the FCDO-funded Climate Compatible Growth (CCG) programme, which supports mobilising investment to meet development priorities in the Global South. With 25 years of experience in finance, enterprise, and academia, Alex teaches undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive education courses within his department and supervises a small number of doctoral students. He contributes to core programmes at the School, focusing on sustainable finance, enterprise, and water and food security. In addition to his academic role, Alex runs Watermarq, an early-stage firm exploring new approaches to valuing water. He also serves as the Chief Investment Advisor for the Africa Water Investment Programme and is a member of the Global Water Partnership's Technical Committee. Alex holds a master's degree with distinction in water science, policy, and management, as well as a doctorate in water risk, both from the University of Oxford.
