Biography

Alex is an Associate Professor (Teaching) in Sustainable Resource Management at University College London, where he also serves as the Deputy Head of the Department (Education) and Academic Director for Postgraduate Studies in the Department of Chemical Engineering. He leads the MSc in Global Management of Natural Resources, collaborating with the University of South Australia and Adelaide University. Alex's academic background includes a PhD in Geology and Mineral Processing, focusing on the impact of particle size on froth stability in flotation processes—a crucial method in mineral processing. His teaching spans various aspects of resource management, particularly concerning hard rock minerals and research pedagogy. He teaches an interdisciplinary MSc program which combines science, engineering practices, and business management. With a strong commitment to academic mentorship, Alex supports staff in achieving professional recognition and contributes to professional bodies as a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining. His roles extend to chairing the Postgraduate Exam Board and mentoring MSc program directors.
