Biography

Alex Powell is an Associate Professor of Law at the University of Warwick, specializing in Refugee and Asylum Law, Gender and Sexuality Law, Popular Culture, and UK Public Law. He employs critical socio-legal methodologies to explore intersections of law with gender, sexuality, and migration. He also holds an LLM with Distinction in Constitutional Politics and Law Theory from Birkbeck, University of London, and a first-class LLB in Law from the University of Reading. In addition to his teaching and research at Warwick, Alex is the Co-Convenor of the Migration and Asylum Section of the Society of Legal Scholars and serves as a Trustee of the Socio-Legal Studies Association and a Research Affiliate at the Refugee Law Initiative.
