Biography

Alex Stephenson is a Doctor of Philosophy student at the University of Western Australia, focusing on Linguistics. Following his undergraduate studies, he completed his Honours year in 2020, where he interned at various Aboriginal language centres in Western Australia. He contributed to the planning, development, and delivery of language preservation programs during his time at these centres. In September 2023, he commenced his PhD research on the 'Life Digitisation' Australian Research Council Linkage Project, which endeavors to digitise vulnerable cultural heritage collections. His Honours research involved a typological investigation of reflexive expressions and their emotional meanings across a sample of languages.
