Biography

Alex Tang is a lecturer and coordinator for the Office of Experiential Education at the University of British Columbia (UBC). He is an educator and pharmacist who focuses on the intersection of equity, practice, and education. Tang is a proud UBC alumnus and actively engages in his research through the Pharmacy Education Research Leadership (PERL) theme. His scholarly interests center on queering health, experiential education, and health outcomes for 2SLGBTQ+ communities. He co-leads PrideRx, a faculty-led initiative aimed at improving health outcomes in these communities through education and partnerships. His professional background includes community practice experience in Gibsons and the Lower Mainland, as well as notable leadership in the field of pharmacy education. He collaborates with over 100 preceptors across various sectors to broaden student exposure to diverse careers in pharmacy. Tang values inclusive health care systems and seeks to work alongside colleagues in various disciplines to promote these ideals.
