Dr. Alexa Beiser

Biography

Alexa Beiser is a Professor at Boston University School of Public Health, specializing in Biostatistics. She has been with the university since 1985, contributing to education and public health research. Among her notable roles, she co-developed the doctoral program in biostatistics and served as Associate Chair of Education from 2015 to 2018. Beiser has extensive experience in research as the lead biostatistician for the Framingham Heart Study’s neurology group, where she evaluated risk factors for various clinical and subclinical neurological outcomes. Her research has focused on diseases such as Alzheimer's and stroke, utilizing advanced imaging techniques like MRI and PET scans. Her contributions have informed the understanding of factors affecting brain aging and dementia risk. In her current role, she leads a data management team responsible for participant recruitment and data management for grant-funded studies. She has authored numerous publications, collaborating on various projects that explore the intersection of vascular health and cognitive function, providing insight into the dynamics of neurological diseases across different populations.
