Biography

Alexander Bardelcik is an Associate Professor in the Department of Engineering at the University of Guelph. He specializes in micro-mechanical characterization and has a keen interest in the study of multi-phase metals, including steels with various constituents such as martensite, bainite, ferrite, and pearlite. His research incorporates finite element modeling to investigate the fracture characterization of these materials and the development of novel metal forming processes, specifically tailored hot stamping for materials such as 22MnB5 and aluminum alloys. Bardelcik is also experienced in high strain rate material characterization techniques applied at elevated temperatures. He teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses, focusing on mechanical metallurgy, press hardening steel, kinematics, dynamics, and finite element analysis.
