Dr. Alexander Bareis

Biography

Alexander Bareis is an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer at Lund University, with a strong focus on contemporary German literature and diachronic narratology, particularly exploring themes such as unreliable narration and metafiction. His academic journey has involved significant contributions to the field of literary translation and intermediality, with a particular interest in the relationship between novels and films. Bareis has been an active participant in numerous research networks, including the European Narratology Network and the DFG young researcher's network at Freie Universität Berlin, engaging with diverse scholarly communities across Europe. He has also held a leadership role as the Chairperson of Tyskspåkig litteraturvetenskap Sverige from 2017 to 2023. In addition to his research endeavors, Bareis has been involved in various editorial and review activities, contributing to the advancement of literary studies through rigorous peer review processes. His commitment to exploring and expanding the understanding of narrative theories is reflected in his collaborative research projects and his roles in advisory boards of research centers.
