Biography

Alexander Chow is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Divinity at the University of Edinburgh and co-director of the Centre for the Study of World Christianity. He completed his PhD in theology at the University of Birmingham and has held a postdoctoral fellowship at Renmin University of China, where he focused on research related to Chinese Christianity. Prior to joining the University of Edinburgh in September 2013, he taught in the School of Liberal Arts. Chow has co-edited the journal Studies in World Christianity and is the editor of the Liu Institute Series on Chinese Christianities published by Notre Dame Press. His scholarly contributions include several articles on Christianity in China and East Asia as well as the authoring and editing of six books, including "Chinese Public Theology: Generational Shifts in the Confucian Imagination of Chinese Christianity" published by Oxford University Press in 2018, and forthcoming works on the interaction between Chinese heritage and British Christianity.
