Alex joined Imperial College School of Medicine on Academic and Music Scholarships in 1997. He completed an intercalated BSc in Endocrinology in 2001 with class honours. After finishing his medical degree, he trained in Endocrinology and Diabetes under General Internal Medicine at leading hospitals in London, awarded an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship while continuing his research alongside training. In 2011, he was awarded a Wellcome Trust PhD Research Fellowship, followed by an NIHR Clinical Lectureship in 2015 and a Wellcome Trust Institutional Lectureship in 2016. With over 100 publications in clinical translational research focusing on reproductive endocrinology, Alex's research examines the influence of reproductive hormones on behavior and bone health. He has been involved in pioneering studies for new treatments for menopausal hot flushes and is currently focusing on clinical applications of kisspeptin in relation to bone and reproductive health. Alex has presented at various international conferences and is a founding member of a charity focused on Pregnancy-Associated Osteoporosis. He serves as a Consultant Endocrinologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, leading the Imperial Endocrine Bone Unit and is actively involved in teaching and academic contributions, recognized by several prestigious awards.
