Biography

Alexander Gilbert completed his Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Applied Mathematics at UNSW Sydney in 2013 and his PhD in Applied Mathematics from the same institution in 2018. After completing his PhD, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Heidelberg in Germany from 2018 to 2020. In late 2020, he returned to UNSW to continue his work as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. His research primarily focuses on computational mathematics and numerical analysis, with particular interest in numerical methods for approximating integrals in high dimensions and applications related to uncertainty quantification. His work spans a broad range of areas, including numerical integration, algorithm development, software implementation, and exploring new applications in the context of uncertainty quantification and numerical analysis, particularly quasi-Monte Carlo quadrature rules.
