Dr. Alexander Görke

Biography

Alexander Görke is a Professor in the Department of Communication and Media Studies at Free University of Berlin, specializing in Science Communication and Journalism. He earned his PhD in communication science from the University of Münster in 1997, focusing on risk journalism and society. Görke has held various teaching and research positions at renowned institutions, including the Institute of Media and Communication Studies at TU Ilmenau and the University of Jena. His academic endeavors have involved participation in multiple third-party research projects on risk communication and multimedia competence. He has also represented the W2 professorship in Media and Communication at the University of Siegen. His course offerings encompass subjects such as Introduction to Communication and Media Studies, Journalism Research, Organizational Communication, and crisis and risk communication. Görke has published extensively, contributing to significant literature in the field of communication science, including works on public communication systems and the interrelations between journalism and entertainment. He is actively engaged in informing the public about critical issues in the landscape of modern media and communication.
