Biography

Alexander M. Hynd, Ph.D., is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UNSW Sydney's School of Social Sciences. His research examines Green Energy Statecraft (GES), focusing on how Indo-Pacific states seek to maximize the benefits of the region's shift toward green energy. Alexander's academic work has been published in leading international journals such as International Studies Quarterly and Environment and Planning C: Politics and Space. He also contributes commentary and analysis to various outlets, including The Conversation, East Asia Forum, and the Lowy Interpreter. He serves as a Non-resident Fellow at the University of Vienna's European Centre for North Korean Studies and as a Non-resident James Kelly Korea Fellow at the Pacific Forum. Additionally, he has held a Visiting Fellow position at the Centre for Strategic International Studies (CSIS) Indonesia. With over 12 years of experience in the public and private sectors across the Indo-Pacific, including in South Korea, Indonesia, and Australia, Alexander brings valuable insights to his research.
