Dr. Alexander Lanzon

Biography

Professor Alexander Lanzon holds the Chair in Control Engineering and serves as the Director of the Control, Dynamics and Robotics Laboratory at the University of Manchester. He is the Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, having previously served as the Department Head for Research and the Deputy Head. His research focuses on robust feedback control of linear and nonlinear dynamic systems. He has published extensively in areas including stability analysis, dissipativity, and applications in advanced control methods for robotics and unmanned aerial vehicles. Lanzon has held academic and research positions at prominent institutions such as the Australian National University and has worked in various industrial roles at ST-Microelectronics and Yaskawa Denki. He is also a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of multiple professional bodies including the Institute of Engineering and Technology and the Institute of Measurement and Control. With a strong commitment to education, he is actively involved in supervising PhD students and contributing to scholarship opportunities.
