Biography

Alexander Mourelatos is an internationally renowned specialist in Ancient Philosophy and Early Greek Science with a PhD from Yale University. He has published widely on topics related to classics and ancient sciences as well as linguistic theory. His notable works include 'Route Parmenides' (1970; expanded revised edition, Parmenides Publishing, 2008) and he is the editor of the influential collection 'Pre-Socratics' (revised edition, Princeton, 1993). Mourelatos founded and directed the Joint Classics-Philosophy Program in Ancient Philosophy and has held several prestigious academic fellowships including those from the National Endowment for the Humanities, American Council of Learned Societies, and the Guggenheim Foundation. He is a member of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey, and has been awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Athens, Greece, in 1994. Additionally, he was inducted as a corresponding member of the Academy of Athens, Greece, in 2000.
