Biography

Alex Olssen is an Assistant Professor in Health Care Management at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on health economics and industrial organization, particularly examining the determinants of drug prices for elderly Americans and the behaviors of insurers in price negotiations. Prior to joining Wharton, he earned his PhD in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also holds a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) from the Australian National University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Mathematics from Victoria University of Wellington. Olssen is a Senior Fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics.
