Professor Paterson trained at Edinburgh Medical School and London (St Bartholomew's Hospital and Royal Marsden). His clinical research includes palliative care medicine and clinical trials in breast cancer prevention and treatment with a focus on bone metastases and malignant hypercalcemia.
