Dr. Alexander Prishchepov

Biography

Alexander V. Prishchepov is an Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen, specializing in Land System Science. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2010, where he focused on Land-Use Modeling and Remote Sensing of the Environment. Following his Ph.D., he completed a post-doctorate in land use modeling in Germany. His research primarily involves understanding patterns and drivers of land-cover change, climate change vulnerability, and adaptations in agricultural systems. He employs various methodologies including socio-ecological modeling, spatial econometrics, and machine learning. His work aims to address pressing questions in land-use transitions and their implications for society and the environment. Prishchepov's contributions have been published in leading international peer-reviewed journals and have been featured in notable media outlets. In addition to research, he engages in teaching at both Bachelor's and Master's levels, focusing on the intersection of land use and climate change. He is actively involved in editorial roles and provides consultancy to global organizations on sustainable land management practices.
