Dr. Alexandr Talyzin

Biography

Alexandr Talyzin is a Professor at Umeå University where he leads research on graphene-related materials with applications in energy storage. His research group, part of the EU Graphene Flagship project, focuses on high surface area porous carbon materials used in supercapacitors and sorbents for contaminant removal, as well as hydrogen storage techniques utilizing graphene oxide and graphite oxides. With a PhD from Uppsala University, Talyzin's research has evolved from early studies on fullerenes and their polymerization to extensive work on 2D materials such as graphene and Covalent Organic Frameworks. He has held various academic positions including postdoctoral researcher and Assistant Professor at Umeå University since 2004, advancing to Full Professor in September 2023. His profound expertise includes synchrotron radiation methods and neutron scattering studies, and he actively collaborates with research groups across Europe. Talyzin has a key interest in the fundamental studies of the structure and chemical modifications of graphene oxide and their practical applications in advanced energy solutions.
