Alexandra (Sasha) Anikina is an artist and media theorist serving as an Associate Professor of Digital Media at the Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton. Her work investigates decolonial technological imaginaries, affective infrastructures, and the feminist science and technology studies impacting knowledge production, governance, labor, and affect. She engages with a variety of audiovisual media, including digital artifacts, experimental film, algorithmic recommendation systems, and contemporary art. Anikina is also involved in critical research through her role as Co-Director of the research group Critical Infrastructures and Image Politics and as Programme Co-Lead for the MA Digital Media at her university. Her recent projects and interests include feminist decolonial imaginaries and AI techno-animism. Anikina’s work has been showcased internationally, including exhibitions at the VI Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art and Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin. She has taught at notable institutions, including Goldsmiths and King's College London, and has been a Balzan Post-Doctoral Fellow at New Sorbonne University, Paris. Anikina co-edited 'Cosmic Shift: Russian Contemporary Art Writing' and helped curate the 2018 media art festival IMPAKT.
