Biography

Alexandra Dallaire studies fungi and their interactions with other organisms in symbiotic relationships. Utilizing both experimental and computational methods, her laboratory aims to understand the mechanisms that drive the evolution of symbiotic fungi. Her research focuses on the loss and expansion of gene families, examination of mutagenic processes, and the activity of transposable elements. With a solid academic and research background, Dallaire holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Cellular Biology from Laval University, completed in 2019, and has gained extensive research experience from her time as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Epigenomics at the University of Cambridge and as an Independent Researcher in Fungal Genomics at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. She is also the Deputy Director of the RIKEN-Cambridge Joint Crop Symbiosis Research Team at the RIKEN Center for Sustainable Bioscience in Japan. Dallaire's research interests span biological evolution, computational cell biology, genomics, and molecular plant-microbe interactions, including host-pathogen interactions.
