Biography

Alexandra Dawson holds the CIBC Distinguished Professorship in Entrepreneurship and Family Business at Concordia University's John Molson School of Business. She received her PhD in Management from Bocconi University, Italy, and has an MSc in Industrial Relations and Human Resources Management from the London School of Economics, as well as a Master's degree in Economics from Università degli Studi di Palermo, Italy. Her research delves into individual-level factors such as identity, commitment, motivation, and the impostor phenomenon, particularly in the context of entrepreneurial family businesses and their implications for women. Dawson employs both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, including narrative and interpretative approaches. Her work has been published in prestigious journals including the Journal of Business Venturing and Family Business Review. She has served as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Family Business Strategy and the Journal of Business Research, and has been a founding director of the National Bank Initiative at Concordia. Prior to her academic career, Dawson worked as a strategy consultant in London and Milan.
