Biography

Alexandra Lebedeva researches efforts to address honour-related violence in organized Nordic countries and its implications. Her current study, conducted as part of a commission by the Nordic Council of Ministers, is in collaboration with the Swedish Secretariat for Gender Research. Her research focuses on ethical perspectives in justice following large-scale human rights violations, with an emphasis on truth commissions. In April 2022, she defended her PhD dissertation in Ethics, critically examining the normative assumptions underlying the work of such institutions in transitional justice. Currently, she is a lecturer at the National Centre for Women's Peace, teaching in the Master’s Programme in Human Rights. Her research interests encompass transitional justice and reconciliation processes, with a particular focus on gender-based violence and migration. Presently, she is conducting a research project on the work against honour-based violence and is a Visiting Research Fellow at Goethe University Frankfurt, where she will work on a project concerning the vulnerability of migrant women to gender-based violence.
