Biography

Dr. Mallett’s experience spans academia and public sectors, working on the design, implementation, and evaluation of energy, climate change, and environmental policy. She has worked with the Canadian government (Natural Resources Canada, Environment Canada), intergovernmental organizations (the Organization of American States), and various academic institutions including Carleton University and the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom, as well as the University of Minnesota in the United States. Another line of her research focuses on contemporary shifts in the governance of natural resources, with a particular emphasis on mining. Recent projects include systematic reviews assessing the effectiveness of climate policies and the potential for technological innovation to mediate policies aimed at environmental improvements, media analysis on how smart grids are framed in Canada, and examining sustainable energy options for the Canadian Arctic.
