Biography

Alexandra Pfefferle studies at the University of Vienna, specializing in German and English Studies. She gained valuable experience through the Austria-Illinois Exchange Program and completed her Master’s degree at the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Currently, she is continuing her doctoral studies while also teaching at UIUC. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she conducted research for several years at Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Universität in Germany. Dr. Pfefferle’s dissertation focuses on Contemporary Austrian Literature, titled 'Geschichte(n) globalisierten ZeitRäumen. Österreichische Romane nach 2000,' which was published in 2019. Her research interests include Globalization, Migration & Transcultural Exchange, as well as New Austrian German Literature and Film. Dr. Pfefferle serves as the Director of the Illinois Vienna Programs (IiVP), where she is proud to facilitate transatlantic dialogue and create opportunities for diverse student exchanges between the United States and Europe.
