Biography

M. Schmidt received a PhD in Statistics from the University of Sheffield, UK, in 2001. From 2002 to 2016, she worked at the Department of Statistics of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In 2016, she moved to the Biostatistics Program at McGill University. She is recognized for her contributions in the field of Environmental Statistics and received the Abdel El-Shaarawi Young Investigator Award from the International Environmetrics Society in 2008. In 2017, she was awarded the Distinguished Achievement Medal by the American Statistical Association’s Section on Statistics and the Environment. Additionally, she served as President of the International Society for Bayesian Analysis in 2015.
