Biography

Alexandra Minna Stern, Ph.D., is a distinguished professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she has held numerous faculty appointments across various departments, including the Department of English and the Department of History. Her extensive academic background includes a Ph.D. in History from the University of Chicago, as well as an M.A. in Latin American Studies from the University of California, San Diego, and a B.A. in Central American Studies. Stern's research interests also include ecofascism and the historical role of chaplaincy programs in modern hospitals. Her latest book, 'Proud Boys and the White Ethnostate: The Alt-Right's Warping of the American Imagination,' published in 2019, applies feminist studies and critical race studies to deconstruct far-right ideologies. Additionally, she is the founder and co-director of the Sterilization and Social Justice Lab, which studies eugenic sterilization patterns and experiences in 20th-century America.
