Alexandra Stubelius’ research aims to reshape and remodel the immune system to reduce inflammation and restore tissue function. She has achieved this through advanced nanotherapeutics specifically designed for biomaterials. Alexandra holds a PhD in Medicine, specializing in inflammation rheumatology, and an MSc in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Biosciences. She completed her postdoctoral studies in nanomedicine at the University of California, San Diego. At Chalmers University, she is a member of the steering committee for the Area of Advance Nano and is actively involved in the Areas of Advance Health Engineering and Materials Science. Her research interests include developing novel therapeutic approaches and she is on the board of the Controlled Release Society’s Nordic Local Chapter. Additionally, Alexandra is highly involved in the Nordic University Consortium, known as NordicPOP, which focuses on patient-oriented products and the continuation of NordicPharmaTrain, aiming to strengthen collaborations in Nordic Drug Delivery Research. She has a keen interest in joint diseases and is part of the EU-funded network NetwOArk, which aims to advance the mission of the European Society of Osteoarthritis. In 2024, Alexandra will assume the role of Director of the Master Program in Biotechnology at Chalmers and teaches pharmaceutical technologies to pharmacy students at the University of Gothenburg.
