Biography

Alexandra van der Meulen is a partner specializing in international arbitration at Freshfields in Paris. She has extensive experience in public international law, investment arbitration, and international commercial arbitration. Alexandra has served as counsel for states at the International Court of Justice, notably in maritime boundary disputes involving Chile, Peru, and Bolivia. She was involved in advocacy for Bahrain regarding appeals to the International Civil Aviation Council concerning cases brought by Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain. In 2017, she was recognized as a 'Future Leader' in Arbitration by Who’s Who Legal. Alexandra teaches international commercial arbitration at the University of Fribourg and international dispute settlement at Université Paris 5. She has also held visiting lectureships at King's College, London. Additionally, she has represented various multinational corporations and consortia in investment and commercial arbitration cases governed by ICC, LCIA, and other arbitration rules. Her advisory work includes pro bono contributions to REDRESS and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
