Dr. Alexandra Zagbayou

Biography

Alexandra Emmanuelle Zagbayou is an Associate Professor of the Practice at the Sanford School of Public Policy, Duke University. She is also a Faculty Affiliate in the Center for the Study of Philanthropy and Voluntarism. Alexandra's academic career began after completing her B.A. at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 2010. She was part of the founding team of Student U in Durham, where she served in various roles, including Director of Operations and Executive Director. During her tenure, she significantly contributed to the organization's mission and infrastructure, enhancing community engagement and collaboration. As an educator, she focuses on leadership, ethics, and community engagement, encouraging students to integrate personal narratives within their learning. Alexandra teaches courses such as 'Women Leaders' and 'Leadership, Ethics, and Public Life', aiming to foster a supportive environment that challenges students. Additionally, she actively engages in community service through various boards and foundations. A proud immigrant from the Ivory Coast and a child of first-generation college students, Alexandra expresses gratitude towards her parents and is dedicated to empowering the next generation of leaders.
