Biography

Alexandra O. Zeitz is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Concordia University, specializing in International Political Economy, particularly focusing on the dynamics of developing countries within the international financial system. Her research interests encompass finance, foreign aid, international development, sovereign debt, international cooperation, negotiations, and the economic relations between China and African nations. Dr. Zeitz has contributed to various prestigious academic journals, including the British Journal of Political Science and International Studies Quarterly. She is the recipient of the Faculty of Arts and Science Dean's Award for Excellence Scholarship in 2022. Before joining Concordia, she was a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. She earned her Doctorate (DPhil) in International Relations from the University of Oxford in 2019, where she also received her MPhil with distinction. Additionally, Dr. Zeitz holds a B.A. (Hons) in Politics, Psychology, and Sociology from the University of Cambridge. Her forthcoming book will be published by Cambridge University Press in December 2024, addressing aspects of financial statecraft and external finance in relation to African governments.
