Biography

Alexandre Graell Amat is a Full Professor in the Communication Systems group at Chalmers University of Technology. His research focuses on modern coding theory, covering a broad range of topics such as distributed storage, caching, distributed computing, and optical communications. He received his MSc degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain, in 2001, followed by MSc and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Turin, Italy, in 2000 and 2004 respectively. Before joining Chalmers in 2011, he worked as a Marie Curie Fellow and Associate Professor at ENST Bretagne, Brest, France from 2006 to 2010. Prof. Graell Amat has served as an editor for the IEEE Transactions on Communications and has held various editorial roles including Associate Editor for IEEE Communications Letters. He has been involved in organizing significant academic events such as the 7th International Symposium on Turbo Codes and Iterative Information Processing and the IEEE European School of Information Theory. He is a recipient of the 2010 IEEE ComSoc Young Researcher Award for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa Region and has been recognized with a Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowship from the European Commission (2006-2008). He is a co-author of a paper that won the 2016 IEEE Sweden VT-COM-IT Joint Chapter Student Conference Paper Award.
