Alexandre Pépin is a French-Canadian visual artist born in Tio'tia:ke (Montréal) and currently living in Austin, Texas. He holds a Master of Fine Arts in Studio Arts from the University of Texas at Austin (2022) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Arts from Concordia University Montréal (2016). Pépin's artistic practice draws on legacy Byzantine Early Renaissance Frescoes, Post-Impressionism, Tonalism, Viennese Secession, and Pattern Decoration to portray moments of queer intimacy and spiritual contemplation. He has received grants from the Quebec Arts Letters Council (2017) and the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation (2019). Pépin has participated in residencies at the Vermont Studio Center (2017) and the Ox-Bow School of Arts (Fellowship, 2021). His recent projects include solo exhibitions at Arsenal Contemporary in NYC (2022) and Bradley Ertaskiran in Montreal (2023), along with participation in NADA NYC (2023) and Platform (2023). His work has been featured in several reviews including Esse Arts + Opinions (Summer 2021), New American Painting (Issue 156, 2022), Glasstire, and Sightlines Magazine.
