Biography

Alexei Ouriadov is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at Western University. His research focuses on hyperpolarized (HP) 129Xe MRI, a technique that provides critical visualization of ventilated lung regions and enables the observation of gas exchange in lung tissues. Over the past 20 years, he has been dedicated to resolving the fundamental limitations associated with this imaging modality, such as the low signal-to-noise ratio in 129Xe images. His current research interests include the development of advanced imaging techniques, the design of new image acquisition and reconstruction methods, and the improvement of MRI hardware like RF coils. Ouriadov also works on validating HP 129Xe MRI methods against established imaging modalities like PET. Through his significant contributions to the field, he is advancing the understanding of lung alveolar geometries and improving imaging techniques to enhance diagnostic capabilities in pulmonary disease.
