Dr. Alexei Sokolov

Biography

Alexei P. Sokolov is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Materials Science and Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He holds a Master's degree in Physics from Novosibirsk State University and a PhD in Physics from the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. His research focuses on the dynamics of disordered materials, including studying low-energy excitation spectra and low-temperature properties. He employs advanced spectroscopies such as Raman, Brillouin, and neutron scattering to investigate the properties of a variety of disordered materials like glasses, polymers, and liquids. Dr. Sokolov is particularly interested in the dynamic functions of biological macromolecules and the applications of photonics in nano-optics, including scanning nano-Raman spectroscopy. Over the years, he has contributed to numerous publications in the field, highlighting his expertise and ongoing research contributions.
