Professor Dr. Alexei Tchistyi

Biography

Alexei Tchistyi is a Professor at the Cornell Peter and Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration. He earned his PhD in Business from Stanford Graduate School of Business in 2005. Tchistyi joined Cornell University in 2020 after serving as an Assistant Professor of Finance at New York University's Stern School of Business from 2005 to 2008 and at UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business from 2008 to 2014. He has held several important positions, including Co-chair of the Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics and Associate Professor of Finance and Director of the Office of Real Estate Research at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 2014 to 2020. His research focuses on real estate finance and corporate finance, specifically in areas such as mortgage design, asset-backed securities, banking regulations, dynamic contracting, and executive compensation. Tchistyi's work has been published in prestigious journals including the Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Finance, and Journal of Financial Quantitative Analysis.
