Dr. Alexis Lawrence

Biography

Alexis Lawrence is an Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Brown University. She is a board-certified emergency physician practicing in Rhode Island, specifically at Miriam Hospital. She graduated from Dartmouth College in 2004 with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Brain Sciences. Dr. Lawrence attended medical school at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where she graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. She completed her internship, residency, and chief residency in Emergency Medicine at Brown University. In addition to her clinical duties, Dr. Lawrence serves as the Assistant Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Rhode Island Hospital, which is the primary teaching site for the Brown Emergency Medicine Residency, handling a substantial annual patient volume. She leads physician safety event reviews and manages patient complaints and high utilizers in the emergency department. Moreover, she is the course director for the departmental Morbidity and Mortality conference and is actively involved in departmental research operations. Her research interests lie in emergency department operations and patient communication, with current projects focusing on a computer-simulated flow model in the emergency department.
