Biography

Dr. Alexis Ramirez is an Assistant Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine in the Department of Anesthesiology. He currently serves as the director of the Medical Student Anesthesiology Elective Clinical Clerkships and as a lead Faculty Student Advisor for students interested in anesthesiology. In addition, he is a member of the Student Evaluation Promotions Committee (SEPC). Born and raised in Massachusetts to Puerto Rican and Dominican parents, Dr. Ramirez attended Boston University where he majored in Human Physiology before obtaining his MD degree from the University of Massachusetts. He trained in Anesthesiology at Rush Medical Center in Chicago and completed a fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Ramirez is committed to improving healthcare delivery and advocates for a heterogeneous healthcare team that is well-educated on the social challenges complicating healthcare access. He actively participates in the Anesthesiology’s diversity and inclusion committee and has implemented numerous practice changes aimed at fostering a diverse and inclusive environment. This includes conducting regular surveys to assess the diversity climate and systematically incorporating topics of diversity and inclusion into the curriculum.
