Biography

Prof. Alfons Kemper is an esteemed figure in the field of Database Systems. With a career spanning several decades, he has focused on optimizing information systems, particularly in scientific applications and addressing the challenges of data explosion. Upon returning to Germany, he completed his lecturer qualification at the University of Karlsruhe, following which he held a professorship at RWTH Aachen. Prof. Kemper served as Director of the Chair of Database Systems at the University of Passau and accepted a position at the Technical University of Munich in 2004. Notably, he was the Dean of the Department of Informatics at TUM from 2006 to 2010. He has authored a textbook on database systems that has become a best-seller in German-speaking countries, widely used in universities and colleges.
