Biography

Alfred Lehar is a Professor at the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary, specializing in Finance. He has been teaching at Haskayne since 2005. Alfred obtained his Doctorate in Philosophy in Finance from the University of Vienna in 1999 and holds a Master's degree in Finance from the same institution. Prior to joining Haskayne, he held academic positions at both the University of Vienna and the University of British Columbia. His teaching areas include Fintech, Decentralized Finance, and Corporate Finance for PhD students. Alfred's research interests encompass Fintech, bank regulation, financial stability, and corporate finance, with particular focus on the implications of blockchain technology in finance. His work has appeared in major finance journals such as the Journal of Finance and the Review of Financial Studies. Outside of academia, Alfred enjoys skiing and hiking.
