Dr. Alfred Tauber

Biography

Alfred Tauber is an Emeritus Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. With a medical degree from Tufts University, he specializes in Hematology and Medical Oncology. Tauber's career includes significant experience as a hematologist and biochemist, having completed his internship and residency at the University of Washington Affiliated Hospitals. He underwent advanced training at Tufts-New England Medical Center and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Before his tenure at Boston University, he served on the faculty at Harvard Medical School for four years. Tauber's research interests are diverse, focusing on immunology, biochemistry, and cell biology, along with extensive publications on 19th and 20th-century biomedicine, and the ethics surrounding contemporary science studies. He emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach to the history of ideas, moral philosophy, and the philosophical complexities of personal identity and science. Tauber is actively involved in academic research, contributing numerous papers to his fields of expertise and engaging with grant data relevant to his research projects.
